“Your story touches deep nerves, hidden secrets, shame, guilt and transformation. The rising of the Phoenix. Very resonant on many levels with the Irish public! Beautifully, vulnerably and very courageously done! You left Ireland on fire!“ ~ Ann Tyrell
I’ve been reciting “If you are proud that you are Irish” since birth. I have always been proud to be Irish. After the Sean O’Casey Theatre Festival, I know that the Irish are proud of me. I was told Irish people don’t raise their hands – not true. The secrets are spoken…. and The Magdalene Laundries cleaned up.
Several days after the show, Mary was the keynote speaker at the May 1, 2024, banquet celebrating the 127 Year Anniversary of the GFWC DELAWARE STATE FEDERATION OF WOMEN’S CLUBS at the Atlantic Sands Hotel and Conference Center in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The focus: Domestic Violence. Trish Rodriguez, GFWC President, asked me.
“Mary Goggin gave a riveting presentation at the GFWC Delaware State Convention. We have never heard such a personal accounting of abuse, addiction, and recovery. Mary gives us hope for a brighter tomorrow. Again, Mary, thanks for coming to Delaware!” Jan Conant, President GFWC Delaware
This very exciting news was shared by Jacqueline Sterbach, President and Founder of “What Is Your Voice?” (and fellow woman warrior!), whose connection with Trish resulted in this wonderful invite!
“Great performance today by Miss Mary Pat Goggin. Educational, emotional, hysterical, and ultimately the truth about addiction and recovery. Tears and laughter in a full house. ” ~ Maureen Higgins
“Her face lights up the stage and her characterizations paint for you quite cinematically the elements of this incredible but true story….
…One moment being hysterically funny, the next breaking your heart!” ~ Fran Sisco
Since debuting in 2012, the Rochester Fringe has drawn more than 650,000 visitors from all over the world to more than 4,500 diverse performances and events. Featured in 2021 and 2022 at this Fringe, Runaway Princess play will be back at the Spirit Room with performances this week September 18 through 22.
Ms. Goggin, I want to say that on Friday June 2nd when you were in the Southern Maine Women’s Re-entry Center here in Windham and you passed out the flyers to your performance I felt the realness that was about to take place. When you began I was not sure where you were going with the it, but then when you got into the deep dark part of your life in addiction and everything else it made me know that no matter who you are it can happen to anyone. I now know that I am definitely not alone in this journey. I really connected with you and your performance. I cannot wait to see it with all the bells and whistles…. Again thank you for going out of your way for us women, we needed that. Kerry
Sunday (5/21/23) show Annie Lanzillotto. Saturday (5/20/23) show John McDonagh. (Was also on the air with John and Malachy McCourt on WBAI radio Sunday morning.) I am filled with love and fun and ideas and sparks and joy. Thank you both for seeing Runaway Princess this weekend.
Thank you to my friends that showed up as the show heats up. Most of all thanks Elliott Glick and Monica Glick, the family and staff of The Artist (Starving Artist)on City Island. So filled… so wiped out.
